TOURNAMENT FORMAT

  • 3 Game Guarantee (weather permitting)
  • Double Elimination Bracket
  • Championship Game is untimed
  • Tournament directors reserve the right to adjust format, game times, or schedule due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.

GAME TIMING

  • All games prior to the championship: 55-minute time limit (not drop dead)
  • No new inning may begin after 55 minutes.
  • The inning in progress will be completed unless the home team is ahead.
  • The championship game is untimed.
  • Games cannot end in a tie.

Extra Innings

  • International tie-breaker will begin starting the next inning.
  • Last completed out begins on 2nd base.
  • Games continue until a winner is determined.

RUN RULE

  • 20 after 3 innings
  • 15 after 4 innings
  • 10 after 5 innings

BATS & BALLS

Approved Bats

  • All bats must have a current USSSA 240 stamp.
  • Dual stamps are allowed as long as the USSSA stamp is current.
  • Senior bats are NOT allowed regardless of player age.

Illegal Bat Penalty

First Offense

  • Team warning issued
  • Batter is out
  • All runners return to their original bases

Second Offense (same game)

  • Player is ejected from the game
  • Automatic out remains in lineup for remainder of game

Additional Violations

  • Any player caught using an illegal bat in multiple games will be ejected from the tournament.
  • Tournament directors and umpires reserve the right to inspect bats at any time.

Softballs

  • Game balls will be provided by tournament staff.
  • Men hit 12” softballs.
  • Women may choose between 11” or 12” softballs while batting.

LINEUP & BATTING RULES

  • The starting count is 1-1.
  • No courtesy foul. A foul ball or a ball hit off the net with two strikes is an out.
  • All players present must bat in the lineup.
  • No roster substitutions allowed unless approved by tournament directors due to injury.

Female Rules

  • Infielders must remain on the dirt when a female batter is hitting.
  • Coed line is in effect for all female batters, regardless of which ball the female chooses to hit.
  • Outfielders must remain behind the coed line while a female is batting.
  • No 5-man infield allowed on females.

Walk Rule

If a male batter is walked and a female batter is on deck:

  • The male batter is awarded 2nd base automatically.
  • The female batter may choose to:
    • Take a walk, OR
    • Bat

BAT TOSS/FLIPS

  • No excessive bat tossing, or bat flipping will be allowed. Any bat toss/flip that clears the batter’s head or is thrown/tossed in an excessive/violent manner in any direction will result in the play being called an automatic dead ball out. 
  • If a batter happens to bat flip after hitting a homerun, and the umpire calls the bat flip an out. The play will be ruled a Dead Ball Out. Homerun hitter is out and homerun does not count. Any runners on base will stay in place.

HOME RUN RULE

  • Teams are allowed 3 home runs total per game (combined male/female).
  • Any additional home run after the limit will result in the inning ending immediately.

Home Run Band Rule

  • Each team may purchase ONE Home Run Band for $20 before the start of the event.
  • The designated band hitter must be declared before each game and listed on the lineup card. If no band hitter is declared before the start of the game, you are limited to your 3 team home runs.
  • The band may only be transferred before the game begins.
  • If the band man is walked, it passes on through the line up until the inning ends or the band man comes back up to the plate, whichever comes first.
  • Home runs hit by the designated band hitter do NOT count toward the team home run limit.
  • If the designated band hitter leaves the game, the band becomes inactive for the remainder of that game.

PLAYER PARTICIPATION

Injury Pickups

  • If a player gets injured, coaches are NOT allowed to pick up any replacement player of their choice. Any pickup/substitute must be approved by the directors first. If directors become aware of an illegal player being used on your field and/or in your lineup, that game will result in a forfeit.
  • Pickups are only permitted to complete a 10-player roster and/or maintain a 7 male / 3 female ratio on the field.

No Shows/Late to Game

  • If a player is running late to the first game, the coach must decide whether to place them at the bottom of the lineup or leave them out of the lineup entirely. If the player is left out of the lineup, they will not be allowed to substitute into the first game.

PINCH RUNNER RULES

  • One pinch runner per inning per gender.
  • Female runners must run for females.
  • Male runners must run for males.
  • The pitcher receives one additional courtesy runner.

Courtesy Runner Penalty

  • If the courtesy runner’s turn at bat comes up before they score or are put out, an automatic out will be recorded for that batter.

PITCHING RULES

  • Legal pitching arc: 4′ to 10’ from the ground. Slow speed and with a hump.
  • Pump fakes are allowed.

Warm-Up Pitches

New pitchers receive:

  • Two warm-up pitches with 11”
  • Two warm-up pitches with 12”

Pitcher Safety Rule

  • The use of a pitching net is optional and must be declared prior to the start of the game and agreed upon by both pitchers before the game begins. Any substitute pitchers must also agree to the net choice before entering the game. If the pitchers choose not to use a pitching net, the use of protective pitching masks or helmets is mandatory. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Pitcher Fielding Rule
  • The pitcher may only be the first defensive player to touch a batted ball if wearing: protective pitching mask OR pitching helmet.
Violation

If a pitcher without protection touches the ball first:

  • Batter is awarded a single.
  • All runners advance one base from their original occupied base at time of contact.

FIELDING RULES

  • Teams may use a 5-man infield only against male batters.
  • Minimum of 3 females must be on the field defensively at all times.
  • Only one female player may sit defensively at a time.

Defensive Position Violations

If defensive players illegally cross positioning restrictions during a female at-bat:

  • Offensive team may accept the result of the play OR
  • Batter will be awarded first base.

EJECTIONS & SPORTSMANSHIP

Tournament directors reserve the right to eject any player, coach, or spectator for:

  • Fighting
  • Harassment
  • Threats
  • Excessive arguing
  • Unsportsmanlike conduct
  • Throwing equipment
  • Disruptive behavior
  • Intoxication or unsafe conduct

Ejections may result in suspension for the remainder of the tournament.

EQUIPMENT

  • All players must wear shoes. No metal cleats. Soft or hard rubber cleats are allowed.

WEATHER POLICY

  • Tournament format and schedule may be adjusted due to weather conditions.
  • No refunds will be issued after the tournament begins.
  • Tournament directors reserve the right to shorten games or modify formats if necessary.

CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND

  • The championship game is untimed.
  • If the undefeated team loses in the championship game, an “if game” will immediately follow.

ADDITIONAL GAME RULES

Scorekeeping/ Run Protests:
  • Any team protesting runs or score discrepancies must have an official scorebook available. Scores must be verified with the umpire before the start of the next inning. If no team scorebook is available, the umpire’s scorecard will be considered the official scorebook and final ruling on the score. Once the next inning begins, the previous inning’s score will be considered official.
Team and Dugout Rules:
  • Only rostered players and approved team personnel are allowed in the dugout or on the field during gameplay. Players not currently on defense must remain in the dugout area unless they are serving as a base coach, on-deck batter, or in-the-hole batter. Individuals who are not listed on the official team roster are not permitted to participate on the field in any capacity during the game, including as base coaches. Any non-rostered individual assisting with scorekeeping must remain in the dugout or designated spectator area at all times.
  • If excessive players or coaches are deemed to be in the field of play and they make contact with a live ball, the umpire has the discretion to award the defensive team an out or the offensive team additional base(s).
Final Authority:
  • Tournament directors reserve the right to make rulings on situations not specifically covered within these rules in the best interest of the event, player safety, and tournament integrity.
